Concept Art/illustrations

£100 ($160) per concept (maximum 8 hours). £200 ($320) per illustration (maximum 16 hours).
50% payment upfront, after thumbnail choice.
Once the concept or illustration is complete I will send you a small image.
Remaining 50% to be paid before I send the full-size image.
You then have 7 days for up to 4 minor alterations (at no cost).
Any major alterations will be charged at a full concept or illustration fee as these changes can be extremely lengthy.

Some of the work in my portfolio couldn't possibly be created in 8/16 hours, such as Checkpoint and Siberia. This kind of extreme detail would very possibly take 2 weeks to finalize as those images are far more advanced than a typical concept or illustration. They are hand painted, with minor textures/photo resources. However, detail doesn't mean a better image - it's just a style.
For an image like those I would have to charge up to £650 ($1000) or I would become homeless.

Concept art is usually very loose - not as polished as the art you see in a lot of port folios containing personal projects. However, tighter levels of detail can be achieved if you are wiling to pay for further work on the image i.e. an extra day or two. As far as concept art goes, this is usually unnecessary. Concept art is all about a design i.e. for film or video games. It isn't the kind of art that is framed and hung on a wall. If you require a more complete image (background/mood/lighting etc) then it is an illustration that you need. Ultimately this takes longer than concept art.
